Every now and then, my Sunday evenings looked something like this… This beautiful and talented man would sit and play his guitar for us. He’d replace his usual Iron Maiden tunes with sappy loves songs that he let me pick and sing along to. I loved watching him play his guitar. So much talent and emotion behind every strum. That incredible talent, along with that handsome face, dashing smile, witty sense of humor and an incredibly kind and generous heart were all the things that made me fall so deeply and unequivocally in love with David.
On this particular instance, Lea (or Doodle Bug as David always lovingly called her) decided she’d rather hear a song from “Frozen,” so as you can see in the video, she’s a little miffed that we are playing something else. We got a kick over her covering her ears and then trying to mouth the words… And you bet your butt that the next song he learned and played for her was “Let it Go”… And that’s just the kind of guy he was.
I’ve been sifting through videos all day. My favorite parts are the banter in between songs, the laughing when someone hits a bad note or the time when I forgot the camera was still rolling, and just for a moment, I got to just sit back and watch us, together.
My heart is aching for every single friend and family member that has suffered this great loss. Love, hugs and kisses to you all.
